In America, education is supposed to be the great equalizer and the primary vehicle for upward mobility. But, the reality today is that all too often, where children are born determines their educational prospects. In 2006, fourteen countries surpassed the United States in providing educational equality for all its citizens.
Teach For America offers the opportunity to extend your experience by committing two years to working in one of our nation's high-need public schools, during which time you will receive full salary and benefits. Teach For America is a unique post-graduate experience that allows you to truly make a difference while actively pursuing your personal and professional goals. As a student interested in politics and policy, your resolve and dedication to the principles of democracy, can help eliminate the achievement gap for children in low-income communities.
Both graduate schools and employers actively seek Teach For America alumni, recognizing that corps members have gone through a highly selective process and valuing the rich perspective and insight that come from teaching in a low-income area.
