Part Time Paid Research Job in Psychology Department

Job Title:  Recruiter/Interviewer, $14 - $17 per hour

The Department of Psychology has a rewarding job opportunity for a Part-time Study Recruiter/Interviewer.  The Study Recruiter/Interviewer will work on a research project funded by the National Institute of Justice entitled “Moving Forward on Gang Prevention” to take place across Los Angeles County. This phase of the study will continue thru August or September 2011.

Responsibilities

  • Accountable for the strategic recruitment of youth ages 11-15 into the research study.
  • Administer consent documents to the youth and their parents according to study protocol.
  • Administer follow-up face to face interviews in the youths’ homes.
  • Meet with Principal Investigator and study staff on campus to debrief at least bi-weekly.
  • Travel to and from recruitment locations across Los Angeles County. 
  • At least 15-20 hours per week.

Qualifications

  • Degree or enrollment in psychology or other social science or social work program preferred
  • Ability to engage with youth and hi-risk communities.
  • Practical, results oriented attitude.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Excellent prioritization skills.
  • Must be available afternoons and early evenings.
  • Must have a car to travel to interview sites.
  • Experience in research settings preferred.
  • Bilingual (Spanish) a plus but not necessary.
