Students Talk Back–“Defining Marriage: Who Decides?”

Tuesday, September 28, 11:30am-1:30pm @ The Fishbowl Chapel, University Religious Center (URC) - free lunch

As we await Prop. 8’s day in America’s highest court, many wonder if there is a historical precedent for the courts to supersede the electorate. How can America come to consensus over such a divisive issue, and what is the legal framework for defining something as controversial as “marriage”? USC student leaders and practitioners meet to break through the barriers of defining marriage.

Moderated by Jay Carson, Chief Deputy Mayor, City of Los Angeles, former Travelling Press Secretary for Bill and Hilary Clinton

Panelists: Reed Galen, Former Deputy Campaign Manager for John McCain and Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger; David Cruz, Professor of Law, USC Gould School; and representatives from USC College Democrats and Republicans.

Hosted by the USC Unrah Institute of Politics.
