The USC Global Health Lecture Series is proud to welcome Rose Mapendo, a Congo Refugee, and Beth Davenport and Elizabeth Mandel, documentary film makers, to USC next week for the screening of their film Pushing the Elephant. Pushing the Elephant is a powerful and uplifting family portrait unfolding against the wider drama of war. The film explores the long-term and often hidden effects of war on women and families, particularly those in traditional societies — financial despair, increased susceptibility to rape, and social ostracism. We will explore what it means to become an active advocate for a peaceful and hopeful future.
Screening and Lecture Co-hosted by: USC Institute for Global Health and School of Cinematic Arts.
